Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Not All Bad?

Rush Limbaugh: In North Carolina last week, Obama told supporters: "You're hearing a lot of talk these days" that "government is terrible... bureaucrats are taking over, and all this stuff." He said, "Look, I don't want government any more than is necessary."

According to government-run AP, this represents a shift in Obama's self-described mission to "make government cool again." Now, instead of touting government as the solution to life's ills, the new message is: "Government's not all bad."

White House officials attribute the changed tune to "anti-government sentiment" that's "embodied most visibly" by the tea party movement, Republican politicians, some "regular" voters, and, of course, "conservative talk show hosts." David Axelrod, the presidential flunkie, says, "The president sees these things, and feels moved to comment. There are some things for which we rely on government, and when you de-legitimate it, it makes it difficult to solve some of the big problems we have."

Pay no attention to Obama's or Axelrod's words; pay attention to actions. This administration's growing government like no other in our history. They are intruding into every aspect of our lives, destroying the private sector, and undermining the fabric of our capitalist economy -- intentionally -- with all deliberate speed. The debt and levels of spending they are amassing won't solve "big problems." They are creating financial canyons that are going to take decades to climb out of. Under Obama, government is "all bad" -- and then some. He's the wrong man, in the wrong place, at exactly the wrong time. We could be screwed!
