The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Trunk Driving: Congressman Claims Trees Cause Slower & Safer Motorists



(CNS News) - In a pre-Earth Day speech before the Alliance for Community Trees on Wednesday, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) said that more trees lining urban streets makes people better drivers.

“Having an urban tree canopy actually retards speeding,” said Blumenauer.
