Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Deficit commission Dems start talking about “pro-growth tax hikes”

(By Ed Morrissey; Hot Air) - Over the last few weeks, I’ve warned that the presidential deficit commission would serve as nothing more than a public-relations dodge to get broad-based tax hikes through Congress after Barack Obama’s repeated promises not to impose higher taxes on the middle class. The Daily Caller reports today that the public relations part of the effort has already begun. Democrats on the National Commission for Financial Responsibility and Reform have expressed support for “pro-growth” tax increases, and warn that “revenue” has to be part of any fix to the deficit...
