The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Memory loss plagues legendary UNC coach Dean Smith

UNC basketball family rallies around Dean Smith

North Carolina basketball has always considered itself family and now they are rallying around its 79-year-old patriarch.

Those close to the program tell Dan Wiederer of the 'Fayetteville Observer' that Dean Smith's legendary memory is fading and that some days he does not recognize people.
