Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

University Parkway will reopen a month early after bridge replacement is finished

(By Wesley Young, Winston-Salem Journal) - A section of University Parkway closed for more than a month while crews replaced a bridge will reopen this morning at 9, a month ahead of schedule.

With work finished on the 20th Street bridge, drivers will be once again be able to travel University between Coliseum Drive and Northwest Boulevard.

And they will again be able to use 20th Street to cross under University Parkway.
