Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Civil Rights Leader: Tea Party and KKK Interchangeable

Walter Fauntroy, the non-voting delegate who represented the District of Columbia from 1971 to 1991, appeared at the National Press Club and said: "We are going to take on the barbarism of war, the decadence of racism, and the scourge of poverty, that the Ku Klux -- I meant to say the Tea Party... you all forgive me, but I -- you have to use them interchangeably."
