The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Gibbs: Obama Will Not Campaign For Dems Who Think It Would Be Unhelpful



"We'll raise money for places where candidates and committees think that's helpful. We'll be in mail, we'll be in -- well, of course. Absolutely. No, we're not going to go to places where people think it's unhelpful that we go. That would be crazy," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said at Tuesday's briefing.
