Bush Opens Up About Drunken Moments

(Politico) - George W. Bush says he was never a "knee-walkin' drunk."

Still, before giving up alcohol, the former president tells NBC's Matt Lauer in an interview set to air Monday night (and previewed in People magazine), he "could easily have a beer or two, or a martini, before dinner, bourbons, B&Bs. I was a drinker."

In the interview, which previews the former president's new memoir, "Decision Points," Bush says that drinking "became a love and therefore began to compete for my love with my wife and my daughters," according to People.

And his parents weren't pleased, either.
