Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Christian Flag Supporters Gather to Fight City of King's Decision



KING, NC (WGHP) — The battle over the Christian flag controversy at the veterans memorial here is far from over.

Last week King city officials approved a policy that will allow veterans to apply to fly a flag representing their faiths on a rotating basis.

The Alliance Defense Fund says the citizens of King, not the city, will choose flags to fly at the Veterans Memorial in Central Park.
