Testy Barney Frank incensed, even after big win
NEWTON, MA (By Edward Mason and Jessica Heslam, BostonHerald.com) — A cranky U.S. Rep. Barney Frank blasted the Herald last night as “irrelevant,” even as surging Republicans grabbed control of the U.S. House and swept him from his lofty perch as chairman of the powerful financial services committee.
“With the re-election of the Massachusetts delegation and Gov. Deval Patrick, we can acknowledge tonight that Massachusetts has reaffirmed the complete political irrelevance of the Boston Herald," Frank told more than 100 supporters at the Crowne Plaza in Newton. “There is no limit to the bias and vitriol they unleashed.”

(The Corner) - Having won by about 14 points, he spends ten minutes trashing Sean Bielat, the media, and everyone else. He’s outraged that he had to run a race at all. He calls the Bielat campaign “beneath the dignity of a democracy” or words to that effect. This from a guy who ran millions of dollars in attack ads, repeatedly insulted Bielat, and shouted down his own constituents.
If you want to know what’s really going through the mind of Democratic incumbents [today], just listen to Barney Frank release his inner arrogant liberal.
(Hot Air) - Didn’t Barney Frank 'win' his race? In this train wreck of a victory speech, Frank spent more time attacking the media and his opponent, Sean Bielat, than most 'losing' candidates do in conceding their races. Its closest analogue, in my recollection, is Richard Nixon’s ultimately premature “You won’t have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore” valediction in 1962, after losing the California gubernatorial election. Frank gripes about Fox News, the Boston Herald, and the victimization of his significant other James Ready after Ready started popping up at Bielat events like an annoying paparazzo. Guess what Frank blames for coverage of Ready’s odd decision to suddenly take up photojournalism? Three guesses and the first two don’t count...
