Stokes says good-bye to its county manager--Bryan Steen’s final day is Dec. 10

(By Leslie Bray, The Stokes News) - When Stokes County Manager Bryan Steen submitted his letter of resignation to the Board of Commissioners on Sept. 7, he thought he had his coming years all figured out. His goal was to retire from local government as of Friday, Dec. 10, and then find a federal job to keep him busy until he could retire for good in about 15-20 years.

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men!

On Tuesday night, Nov. 30, Steen was selected to be the new county manager of Burke County, effective Jan. 1, 2011.
