VIDEO: News Cameraman Attacked, Hit With Stick

TV News crew investigating treatment of horses when man attacked cameraman

DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — A television cameraman was attacked Thursday afternoon while shooting video in Davidson County.

WGHP received a news tip Wednesday regarding concerns over two horses owned by Danny Kirkus. County Commissioner Cathy Dunn and a member of the U.S. Equine Rescue League shared concerns over the welfare of several horses.

Chris Weaver, a cameraman for WGHP-TV, was shooting video of the horses alongside a public road in Davidson County when Kirkus approached him holding a large stick and a bucket of horse feed.

Kirkus swung the stick at the cameraman twice, hitting him once on the lower leg.
