Wendy's To Offer Tomatoes 'By Request Only'

HIGH POINT, NC (WGHP) — If you want a tomato on your Wendy's hamburger, you will now have to request it.

Many Wendy's restaurants across the country are now serving tomatoes on hamburgers and chicken sandwiches "by request only" after a hard freeze in Mexico that damaged vegetable crops.

The weather in Mexico coupled with cold snaps in Texas and Florida has U.S. suppliers looking for alternative sources for popular vegetables. A spokesperson for Wendy's said the company gets their sandwich tomatoes from Florida and Mexico.
