Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

'Washington Post' Columnist David Broder Passes Away


(By Alex Alvarez, Mediaite) - David Broder, the 'Washington Post'’s Pulitzer-winning political columnist, died today in Arlington due to complications of diabetes. In addition to his work for the 'Post', Broder has written books and appeared on various television programs as a political pundit.

In 2008, Broder accepted a buyout offer from the newspaper, agreeing to pen his twice-a-week column as a contract employer.

Broder won his Pulitzer in 1973 for his extensive coverage of the Watergate scandal.
