The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

WFUBMC Drops 'University' from Name

Name change to cost hospital $3.5 million over 2-3 years



WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) - Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has dropped "University" from its name, the hospital announced at a press conference on Thursday.

The newly named Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center unveiled its new website domain www.wakehealth.edu and logo on Thursday.

Hospital officials said the purpose of these changes is to unify the medical center's physical identity, reflect integration of its clinical, educational and research mission and signify the institution's goals for the future.
