LAPD Helicopter Forced To Land By Gunfire

VAN NUYS (CBS) — A teenager is in custody for allegedly shooting an LAPD helicopter on Easter Sunday.

The chopper was hit early Sunday morning as it flew over Saticoy Street and Densmore Avenue near the 405 Freeway.

The pilot managed to land the crippled chopper at Van Nuys Airport.

Danny Lopez, 18, was shooting a firearm because he was distraught over the death of a friend, according to police.

Lopez was tackled by his family and subsequently arrested for attempted murder of a police officer.

No one was injured.
