Stokes County Schools Names New Superintendent
KING, NC (WGHP) - The Stokes County Board of Education named its new superintendent on Thursday.
Ronnie Mendenhall, the North Stokes High School principal, will begin on July 1. He will replace Dr. L. Stewart Hobbs Jr., who will become superintendent of Yadkin County Schools.
'The Stokes News' reported the school board voted to increase Hobbs’s salary last summer but refused the raise after public outcry arose. Yadkin County Schools offered Hobbs a raise, which he took.
Mendenhall has worked in the school system for more than 30 years. School board officials said they looked at 22 candidates, including some from as far away as Iowa.
