Reporter Stages Own Rape to Cure Traumatic Event

(WGHP) - Mac McClelland, a civil rights reporter for motherjones.com, reportedly staged her own rape after witnessing the impact of an alleged rape of a woman in Haiti following the catastrophic 2010 earthquake.

Mac McClelland, 31, couldn't shake the image of Sybille, a woman who said she had been raped at gunpoint and mutilated following the earthquake in Haiti. While on assignment last September, McClelland told ABC she accompanied Sybille to the hospital when she claims the woman saw her attackers and went into a "a full paroxysm -- wailing, flailing" in terror.

According to ABC, following the event, McClelland became progressively enveloped in the classic symptoms of post-traumatic stress -- avoidance of feelings, flashbacks and recurrent thoughts that triggered crying spells.
