The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Nancy Pelosi: Republicans Don't Care About Deficit, Want To Destroy Government



(Real Clear Politics) - "It isn't about reducing the deficit, it is about destroying the public space. It is about destroying government -- federal involvement in education. It's about lean air, clean water, food safety, public safety. You name it, they're there to diminish it. Destroy it," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told the liberal Think Progress organization.
