Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital has a new name: Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes is now official

(By Leslie Bray, The Stokes News) - Motorists on Highways 89 and 8 in Danbury will see something of note these days if they will just glance toward the hospital on the hill. A temporary sign now covers what used to read “Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital.” The large blue banner reads “Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes,” in accordance with the hospital passing into the hands of Pioneer Health Services as of Aug. 1, 2011.

“Superior healthcare is here,” proclaimed J. William “Bill” Sellers, the new hospital administrator, at an informational session for county leaders on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Sellers and other top officials from Pioneer Health Services, based in Magee, Mississippi, were present at the hospital that morning to present information and answer questions. The company employs over 1,800 people, with eight Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) in four states.
