Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

NC Wildlife Officials' Deer Killings "Unconstitutional," Lawyer Says

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — A lawyer representing a couple whose nine deer were shot and killed by wildlife officials two weeks ago said the search warrants did not give officials the authority to kill the animals.

The deer were shot to death Sept. 20 on an unlicensed rehabilitation farm of Wayne and Linda Kinley near Asheboro. Wildlife officials said the deer were killed to be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease, which has not been found in North Carolina.

Matthew Altamura, the Kinleys' attorney, said in a statement the warrants only allowed officers "to seize and hold" the deer "until further order of the court."

Scientific word on the street is that fallow deer (7 of the 9 shot)
cannot contract CWD (reason for slaying may be super bogus). Also, there
are reports of uniformed local authorities “petition snatching”. My
two cents… suppression of free speech is a violation of constitutional
rights and warrants a federal investigation.
