Pat McCrory: Announcement on run for NC governor to come in 2012

2008's GOP gubernatorial candidate says campaigns are too long and costly.

(By Jim Morrill, Charlotte Observer) -
Republican Pat McCrory, who has made no secret of his plans to run again for governor, erased any lingering doubts Tuesday when he said he plans to announce after the first of the year.

McCrory announced his announcement in a video posted on his web site and sent to supporters.

"Why the delay?" he said. "Well in the first place, campaigns have become too long and too costly. ... Elections are barely over before candidates are off and running again. Frankly, the continuous political season wears on everybody, especially during these tough times."
