Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

'Soul Train' creator Don Cornelius dead of apparent suicide, report says

(TMZ) - Don Cornelius, the television personality who famously created "Soul Train" was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA home this morning, and law enforcement sources tell TMZ it appears he committed suicide.

TMZ reports cops discovered the body at around 4 a.m PST. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Cornelius died from a gunshot wound to the head and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.

TMZ reports Cornelius was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

"Soul Train" changed the landscape of television when it debuted in 1971 and ran until 2006.

Officials have notified his family. He was 75.
