The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Walnut Cove town manager moving to Connecticut

(By Meghann Evans, The Stokes News) - Walnut Cove Town Manager Byron Ellis has announced that he will be moving to Connecticut, but he plans to stay until another town manager can be hired.

Ellis explained Thursday that his significant other, Sheridan, has been offered a “really good job” in Connecticut. “It’s an opportunity that we just can’t pass up,” said Ellis.
