Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Women Prefer Strong Republican Men

Contributor Ruth Anne Adams writes:

I tend to agree with Behethland that there is a difference in who you date and who you mate up until the last serious boyfriend who becomes a husband. I was notorious in one frat house at college for saying something like "Oh, Mike, you date Phi Delts; you marry Delta U's." I am told this was written in a DU bathroom, with full credit to me. [Hmmmm....this explains why I didn't get any invites from the DU's in my junior and senior year]. I married a strong Southern gentleman who graduated from the Citadel and looked great in a uniform. Of course he was a trained killer, too. He was a refreshing change from the Nancy-boys I used to date and dominate.
