Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Why continue to give money to S.C. and Virginia? Do you realize how many people go to State Line or Cana every weekend for their lottery ticket?

We're surrounded and it doesn't make sense to hold out any longer. We need the money here.

I personally don't care anything about gambling so I don't have strong feelings either way about the casino issue. I would have to do some research because I am unclear how the state could afford to build them and pay for the necessary upkeep. It would employ a large number of people...
