Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Why John Bolton Is Right for the United Nations

Brett D. Schaefer of The Heritage Foundation opines:

If you tilt your head to the left, you may be deafened by the cries of woe over President Bush’s decision to nominate John Bolton as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. According to The New York Times, "Mr. Bolton stands out because he is not only bad in policy sense, but also unqualified for the post." Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., noted that Bolton’s "antipathy to the U.N. will prevent him from effectively discharging his duties as our ambassador."
