Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Elkin rep eyes a run

From today's Winston-Salem Journal:

In just his second term in the N.C. House and three years before the 2008 election, Rep. Jim Harrell is traveling the state and talking about running for lieutenant governor.

Others are wondering how seriously to take Harrell, 30, a Democrat from Elkin.
