In April alone, 15 registered sex offenders in North Carolina got medication for impotence using taxpayer money, state officials said yesterday, and all such subsidies have temporarily stopped while officials try to prevent it from happening again.
The disclosure shows that North Carolina as one of at least 16 states that have admitted to subsidizing such drugs for sex offenders through the Medicaid program. New York, the first state to admit the subsidies, revealed three weeks ago that at least 198 sex offenders had benefited over five years.
