Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Dean hits GOP on 'honest living'

Steve Brenneis opines:

It's interesting that mainstream Democrats are running as fast as they can to distance themselves from this maniac. Several centrist Democrat Governors have had "scheduling conflicts" when Dean shows up. I thought Terry McAuliff needed a muzzle. Dean needs a muzzle and a keeper.

On the other side of the coin, Republicans are running as fast as they can to distance themselves from conservatives. However, far from fearing bombast from conservatives themselves, the pubbies are running away from the rhetoric of the left which tries to peg them with extremism.

We are well and truly living in the era of the moderates. Heaven help us. As that great man, Jesus of Nazareth once said, "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
