Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Stokes alliance to continue work: County decision to hold back support to have little effect, official says

From Sherry Youngquist in today's Winston-Salem Journal:

The Stokes Health Services Alliance will continue its work after county commissioners decided not to include its share of the alliance's operating money in the 2005-06 county budget.
