Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Stokes health board is expected to deal with legality of 2 meetings

I agree with Mr. Moore: Why have a meeting on Aug. 10th to nullify an illegal meeting that happened on Aug. 3rd??? I don't understand...

With that said, the Stokes County Health Board is looking foolish... Maybe the commissioners need to look at removing a few more members of the board.

From Sherry Youngquist of the Winston-Salem Journal:

After weeks of disagreement about who should be running the health department, the Stokes County Board of Health is expected to take up its own conduct at a meeting tonight.

Board members on opposing sides - those who support health director Don Moore and those who don't - have questions about the legality of two previous board meetings.
