Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Hacking Away At FEMA

I hope people like Ivins will take the time to do research to learn the purpose of FEMA and to learn the facts about what happened before & after Katrina. As I've said before, the local & state government are primarily responsible for disaster planning and for carrying out those plans. We see that Gov. Easley here in NC is carrying out disaster plans as we speak due to the hurricane off our coast. And as far as I know, FEMA hasn't been hacked...
