Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: An Open Letter to Bush Haters

Then Kennedy came, and I detested what I considered his transparent phoniness. (I still twitch whenever I think of “Ich bin ein Berliner.”)

Me too. I still cringe with embarassment when I'm reminded that the President of the United States told the entire world that he is a jelly donut.
