Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

God and Government

Andy asked: Let me get this straight: Liberals want any mention of God out of government, but they want the government to live by Christian principles and give more to the poor???

And political conservatives prefer that the Christian definition of God is closely affiliated with our government, yet they don't want to heed all the advice of Jesus, just the parts that work for them?

To be fair, Andy, you have made several notable points. But in turn they beg the question, 'Why do political conservatives like to align themselves with Jesus if they disagree with the feasibility of a number of his teachings as applied in the modern world?'
