Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Conservatives are Not Amused...

I hope that Republican Senators will realize that they do have a significant role to play, and that it is not simply acquiescing to the President and the White House over this nomination. I hope that conservatives will wake up and realize that too much is at stake to allow this nomination to proceed unopposed. I hope that conservatives will call the White House and their Senators and insist that Bush retract the Miers’ nomination and send a better qualified nominee to the Senate.
Here is where one can contact their senators: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm Let the senators know how you feel about the Miers' nomination.
