Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Joint Chiefs Fire At Toles Cartoon On Strained Army

Artistically speaking, I think I could had drawn a better cartoon. It's no worse, and certainly a lot less egregious than anything else with which the anti-war left has blessed us. Is it completely tasteless? Yes. Is it utterly juvenile? Yes. All the same, I don't think the JCS is doing themselves any favors by getting their pantyhose in a bunch over it. This is America, after all, and this cartoon is about as First Amendment as it gets. I guess the Pentagon just wants to get in on the latest trend in our country, the United States of the Offended.
