Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Renovations force Snappy Lunch to close for first time in 83 years

MOUNT AIRY -
The smell of battered and fried pork-chop sandwiches along Mount Airy's Main Street is missing this month. For the first time in its 83-year history, the Snappy Lunch is closed. "Tell me it isn't so," said Larry Grissett of Ennice.
