Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Chavez...

Tucker Miller opines:

It is peaches & cream for the MAJORITY of Venezuelans that overwhelmingly support Chavez -- a majority that has been used & abused by the same wealthy (& greedy) folks who are described in this article.

Gee, why would these wealthy Latin American power brokers not support a (very popular)leader, who as you put it, is promoting a "socialist workers' paradise...being built on that evil old oil money"? Could it be b/c that oil money is coming out of their own, fat pockets?

These people want the old days back -- the "good" old days when a select few could horde all of the nation's wealth rather than spending their booty towards the greater good of their countrymen.
If you look at Venezuela under Chavez, poverty & unemployment hasn't improved, which is typical under socialist & Marxist regimes because there is no incentive for hard work. Like his best friend, Fidel Castro, he jails and tortures his political opponents. He's also known to support terrorist groups throughout Central America.
