Reading Comprehension 101
I'm going to break one of my rules...well, more like temporarily suspend it... and respond to one of Tucker's comments. This one has less of his signature constipated ranting and raving in it, so I don't feel too bad about responding in this case.
As if we needed yet another one, regular readers of the BP will know well that Tucker is a consistent source of examples on the tragedy of public education.

Of course, I made no such assertion. What I said was...
Nope, no assertion of a "horrifically high tax rate" there. Hmmm, maybe Tucker was reading the other Bully Pulpit (you know, the one where he imagines that we make racial slurs and persecute homosexuals).
Tucker provided us a link to some tax ratings and thought we needed to know...
Apparently, Tucker has some comprehension problems with the phrase "Taxachussetts of the South." Most of us with even the most perfunctory reading comprehension skills will understand that the phrase in no way makes a quantitative comparison of North Carolina's tax rate to that of Massachussets. In fact, it doesn't make a quantitative assertion on anything.
Tucker appears to have a new hobby. He wants you to think I lie and make up statistics. Unfortunately he has been unable to provide any direct refutation of anything, so now he has apparently decided to refute things he only imagined I said. We can probably expect him to respond to some future post I make on the conflict between individualism and collectivism with some blazingly pertinent statistics on fly-fishing licenses in Montana accompanied by the appropriate set of nanny-nanny-boo-boos.

And as far as Steve's assertion that NC has some horrifically high tax rate...

Oh why not? North Carolina is well on its way to being the Taxachussetts of the South anyway.

As you can see, NC is ranked 25th in per capita taxes paid (no where close to MA).
