RE: Foxx's claims just a fundraising gimmick
I guess it's been a while since anyone posted some of Linda Brinson's stupidity on the BP. It must have been about time.
I've known Virginia Foxx for about 13 years. She is, indeed, a shameless self-promoter, but then again, which politician isn't? It's kind of the nature of the game, isn't it?
Linda Brinson has no moral standing to criticize Foxx on any of this. She runs the editorial page of the Journal as an echo chamber for the NC Democrats and whatever leftie cause she happens to find interesting. Her denials of bias ring pretty hollow, especially to anyone, like me, who has tried to submit a letter to the editorial page to directly refute some of the smarmy agit-prop and mud-slinging she has vomited up on the Triad.
Linda isn't interested in dialog or opinion, Linda is interested in promoting Linda's agenda. And Linda's agenda consists of brain-dead musings on some quasi-Marxist utopia.

Actually this isn't true. While there is a lot of straight ticket voting, it is worth noting that the voter registration in the district is at or near parity, yet candidates like Virginia Foxx regularly garner 60% and more of the vote. You said people don't care who is running against her and that's largely true, but keep in mind that she gets a substantial number of votes from Democrats. She couldn't win otherwise. I don't buy the dogmatic voting excuse. It's the same, sad tune Democrats have been singing for years. The truth they don't want to recognize is that they can't seen to field any candidates worth voting for. All the NC Democrats can do is run Linda Brinson types, who are so far out of touch with the electorate that they aren't even aware of it. Either that, or they run lock-step lemmings who can't do anything but serve up the party Kool-aid, which, as we all know, no one is drinking any more.

In a district that primarily votes straight Republican, this is not surprising. I can only wonder why people are so dogmatic in their voting habits that they prefer to continue to elect complete jackasses just because they have an appropriate letter next to their name on a voting ballot.
