Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Stokes County Unofficial Results

Stanley Smith will be the first Democrat to serve on the board of commissioners in 10 years... Ron Carroll and Ernest Lankford also won.

And so the peak IQ of the Stokes board actually achieves double digits. Time to move.

I see that Becky Boles has won a seat on the school board, along with Steve Shelton and Bill Hart. I'm actually surprised that Ty Boles got beat.

School Board meetings will now be an unapologetic circus. Poor Bill Hart. I voted for him, but I don't think he really understands how awful his life will be for the next four years. As for Becky Boles, having a complete flake on the board is nothing new, but having a flake who is also functionally illiterate on the board brings a whole new dimension to the situation. As observed elsewhere, at least she'll be able to interact with the students on level ground. Ty Boles' luck just ran out. You can only lie openly to your constituents for so long before they get around to giving you the boot. As well, people tend to take a dim view of using one's position on the Board of Education as a way to meet babes.

And I see that the idea of districts was voted down... I'm not surprised with that one.

Nor am I. Once again, time to move.

I have the resposability to vote for three of these people this November. Unfortunatly I know nothing about any of them. Can someone give me a run down on these people or tell me where I can find some info?
