Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: RE: New Charge That Carter Ripped Off Book Material

Strother opines: "What happened to "We Report, You Decide?" And was that title not biased enough already for a news website? Anyway..."

What's wrong with the title??? That is what Carter is accused of doing by Dennis Ross. Ross isn't exactly a partisan, having worked in both Bush 41 and Clinton Administrations.

"Viewed by whom?"

Political scholars, historians, and pundits...

"For whatever reason, in the eyes of some, it's perfectly okay for brash, mean-spirited political pundits to use cherry-picked facts and data in order to come to the conclusions that they prefer and that their audiences like to hear and read, but when the opportunity arises to skewer a polite, kind Christian man with opposing, yet equally controversial opinions on an issue that they deem ‘black and white’, they are more than happy to do whatever it takes to make him look bad."

I don't know if this was more of a slam toward the political pundits or towards Carter. I'm not questioning whether or not Carter is a polite, kind Christian man (everybody says Bush 43 is also a polite, kind Christian man, but I don't see that bit of info from stopping you (or Carter) from skewering him from time-to-time.) I'm questioning Carter's judgment.

"Regardless of where you stand on the issue of Israeli/Palestinian relations, don't you find it interesting that characters such as Ann Coulter scream from the rooftops to get a rise out of their opposition while, in comparison, a man such as Jimmy Carter seems to barely whisper?"

I believe you managed to insult both Coulter and Carter there, Strother... Ha! Coulter is a conservative political pundit; Carter was the 39th President of the United States. Believe it or not, Carter's words carries more weight throughout the world because of his status as a former president. In other words, it's Carter, not Coulter, screaming from the rooftops to be heard throughout the world. In the scheme of things, it's Coulter, who's only a pundit here in the states, making barely a whisper.
