Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: There is no spoon

First off, what does your post title, "There is no spoon," mean???

Steve opines: "Shame on you, Andy...I have to offer a caveat here. I do not approve of Hillary's idea in any way, shape, or form. I am also not defending her in any way."

Shame on me for what??? You're the one defending Hillary, not me.

"That being said, what she actually proposed was to take some or all of the proceeds of the windfall profits tax on oil, a tax the oil companies already pay, and put them in some kind of strategic reserve fund."

Actually in that video clip, she said she wanted to take the profits of the oil companies and put them in a strategic fund. Searching the web, I found out there isn't currently a windfall profits tax on oil...

"That's not all that different than what Bush proposed before the elections last year, Andy. If Hillary is a Hugo Chavez socialist, then Bush is right behind her."

When did Bush propose a windfall profits tax??? If he did, I sure don't remember it. I still believe Hillary is a socialist, and the rhetoric she is using with regard to oil companies and profits is the same rhetoric Hugo Chavez used before he nationalized the oil companies in Venezuela.

She just wants to "take" profits that she never earned. Maybe she will invest them in cattle futures and make millions upon millions? She could put them in the social security "lock box" for safe keeping? There are many possibilities with the smartest woman in the world.
