Committee suggests changes to avoid moving Stokes school

(Winston-Salem Journal) - A facilities committee says that the controversial move of Stokes County's alternative school isn't necessary.

The committee has suggested changes to keep the school at its current site after almost a year of studying the school's program and property.

Meadowbrook School, an alternative school near King with about 60 students, needs a pod - a set of modular classrooms with restrooms - to free up space in the main building for a dining area, a media center and a gym, the committee reported Monday night.
