Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: RE: McCain rejects CPAC invite

Strother opines: "Maybe, but he's still second, following Giuliani. There's your Republican race. Excited?"

Not really... With that said, it's hard to get excited about a presidential race when the first primaries are still approx a year away.

"By the way, has there ever been a president with his third wife serving as First Lady?"

Nope, there hasn't... There has been only one divorced president, and that president was Ronald Reagan (1st wife: Jane Wyman.)

"Further, why should McCain address the "nation's premier gathering of conservatives"? He's not all that conservative, is he? Seems to me that he's 'keeping it real,' so to speak."

Who knows what is going through the mind of John McCain. With that said, if you're running for the GOP nomination, speaking at the CPAC conference is something that one should do.
