Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Decker sentenced to four years in prison

RALEIGH (Winston-Salem Journal) -- A federal judge sentenced Michael Decker, a former state legislator from Walkertown, to four years in prison today for his role in a political corruption scandal that toppled former House Speaker Jim Black. Decker will also serve two years of supervised release and pay a $50,000 fine.
