Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

This might be the worst thing to ever happen to northern Stokes County. (might not)

What are these people trying to do? Ruin the good thing we have up here?

Keep that stuff south of the Sauratown Mtns.! Isn't there enough room left in King for that crap?

The increase in property value for neighboring residents that this development(and all the others in the works) will cause is worse than a property tax increase.

When will the greedy developers stop? i guess never. I suppose if someone wants to get some real privacy they'll have to move to Alaska.....

There is a difference between residential and commercial development. Residential fills the schools and takes from society. Commercial provides jobs and adds to the tax base without taking most services. This is the master plan that will take years to complete if it sells. We only have one customer yet and that is Stokes Pharmacy.

Residential development follows commercial development, JT. Don't be naive.

Look at Winston-Salem for example. When a strip mall goes up in a part of town(usually outside of town), that area will see residential developments follow closely behind the commercial ones. How does the line go: "Build it and they will come."

Hopefully this development will be a huge flop. Considering the blatent misrepresentations (lies) that are on the Crawford Webpage i wouldn't be surprised either way. 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway?? 25 minutes from Winston-Salem/Old Salem?? maybe with a helicopter.....it's more than 30 minutes just to Stuart, VA from the proposed Turpin...er...i mean... Crawford Village. Then another 30 minutes from Stuart to the Parkway.
Real Estate hawks never were the honest type anyway......

I agree Stokes County is a wonderful place. King has managed to grow its residential without any commercial business or industry. Business and industry is what this county is needing to offset the massive residential growth. Either way if it sells or not, fine! I enjoy the area and the frontage to put up my favorite political signs. I pay full property tax with no deferments of any kind. I have a house that I am remodeling on the property and plan to live in the mix of it all.
