Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Political rivals unite in children’s marriage

ASHEVILLE (Winston-Salem Journal) - Rep. Roger West and Sen. John Snow are used to being on opposite sides of the aisle. But this weekend, they weren’t split by GOP and Democratic sides, they were split on the bride’s side and the groom’s side.

The Cherokee County legislators celebrated the marriage of West’s daughter Rachel and Snow’s son John Snow III.

The couple met in middle school, and their fathers are good friends, despite their political differences. In fact, the Republican West and Democrat Snow sometimes team up to push local legislation through the General Assembly.

The groom’s cake depicted a boxing match between a donkey and an elephant.

The new bride is a pharmacist and her husband is a bank executive who has worked on Senate campaigns for Erskine Bowles and John Edwards.
