Senate Votes to Condemn MoveOn for Ad Attacking General Petraeus
WASHINGTON (Fox News) — The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed a measure condemning MoveOn.org for a newspaper ad it ran last week attacking Gen. David Petraeus. The move came as President Bush accused Democrats of cowering to the liberal political action group.
The measure passed in a 72-25 vote, with none of the Democratic presidential candidates supporting it. Sponsored by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn, never one to shy away from forcing Democrats to go on record on politically sticky issues, the amendment to the defense authorization bill did win the backing of 23 Democrats.

Idiots.
Maybe Cornyn would care to enlighten us as to which part of the Constitution grants the US Senate the authority to condemn any private individual or organization. Maybe he would like to explain how this isn't just a rank political stunt.
I liked Cornyn's move myself... Of course, it was a political stunt. It's good when liberal Democrats play defense for a change.
Great. So now the legislature of the United States is reduced to the equivalent of a tag team match on WWF. And you wonder why people don't vote.
If they are too busy “wrestling” then they are not raising my taxes, taking away freedoms or passing the latest government give away. With that said, I say bring on the steel cage match.
I would say conservatives liked what Cornyn did because one of the complaints over the years has been the Republicans in Washington actiing scared of the Democrats. I believe what Cornyn did will energize the base more so than depress it. Listening to Rush yesterday, it seems the callers were happy that some Republicans in Washington were taking the fight to the Democrats.

If they weren't so interested in political chicanery and paid more attention to what the constitution says they should be doing, maybe we wouldn't have to worry about the taxes and the giveaways.

Translation: It was indeed a cheap political stunt and had absolutely no connection with doing the people's business.
